Imagine walking beneath a canopy of deep green, breathing in the rich scent of exotic flowers bursting in the air.

From the corner of your eye you see a prehistoric looking bird perching amidst the treetops. A crocodile slips from the muddy banks and a golden orb spider leaves behind a trail of silk.

At the Daintree Rainforest, you will be introduced to the magic of one of the world’s oldest living rainforests. The environment is abundant in evocative flora and fauna and steeped in cultural history.

    The wide mouthed Daintree River make it a spectacular environment for animals, reptiles and birds to thrive. Explore the secrets hidden along the riverbanks. You can see yellow eyed saltwater crocodiles, tree kangaroos napping in the branches. Look for playful platypus splashing in the streams and even feral pigs snuffling in the undergrowth.

  • Forest Dragons and Frogs

    Reptiles are numerous in the branch and bark of the Daintree. You can spot tree pythons, goanna and more than 50 species of brightly coloured frogs. Freshwater turtles bathe on the rocks and the majestic Boyd’s Forest Dragon perches proudly on on the forest floor.

  • Butterflies with Blue Wings

    Bright butterflies flutter through the dappled trees, can you find the Ulysses Butterfly with its sapphire glimmering wings. It is one of the most iconic species you can find across Australia, but they are common in the Daintree Rainforest. Alongside these beauties you’ll see large spiders, grubs and insects hanging around. The many exotic plant species are the perfect attraction for unique bugs.

    Bird lovers will fall head over heels with the paradise that is the Daintree rainforest. From the famous Cassowary to the incredibly heavy Rufous Owl, the birds here are not to be messed with. Alongside them the brightly flourishing paradise kingfishers you can see a rainbow kaleidoscope of colour in the dazzling heart of the Daintree.
