The Daintree Rainforest is one of Australia’s true natural wonders. This ancient dreamscape is full of Indigenous heritage, lush canopy, stunning beaches and ubiquitous wildlife, making it an absolute joy to explore!

Whether you’re partaking in a Kuku Yalanji forest walk, croc-spotting on the Daintree River or lazing about on Cape Tribulation, this dreamy landscape will never cease to amaze you with its wonder.

Getting to the Daintree is easy, with car rentals available at Port Douglas. From there, driving to the Daintree’s different regions should all take within an hour, with each area providing its own unique experiences.

These are just a few of them:

Indigenous heritage walk

The Kuku Yalanji people have lived in the region surrounding Mossman Gorge since around the time people first inhabited Australia, and they offer incredible heritage walks that teach you all about their knowledge and deep connection to the land.

Visitors have the chance to experience bush tucker demonstrations, bush medicine, traditional bark shelters and be told the people’s history in this vibrant part of Australia. Your tour will be finished with traditional damper and bush tea, adding a nice little treat to the end of a wonderful Daintree experience!

Croc-spotting tours

Kakadu isn’t the only Aussie national park with a healthy population of salties – they’re also quite fond of roaming the Daintree River. These prehistoric beasts are one of the Daintree’s most famous residents, hanging out in the cool waters and searching for feeds around the clock!

Luckily for us, we can take part in super fun (and safe) croc-spotting cruises along the Daintree River, with a legendary local guide teaching you all about these hectic reptiles as well as some of the other cheeky creatures that inhabit the forest.

Cape Tribulation

The only way the Daintree could get any better is if it had a sublime beach to top it all off. What’s that? It has? Awesome, and it comes in the form of Cape Tribulation, simply one of Australia’s most dreamy beaches.

Take the Cape Tribulation ferry and find yourself whisked into a hazy wonderland of encroaching rainforest, white sand and gorgeous turquoise waters. You cannot head to the Daintree without spending an afternoon lazing around this beach – missing it would mean missing one of the world’s most enchanting…
