Driving in the Daintree Rainforest

How many days do you need in the Daintree?

The Daintree Rainforest is one of Australia’s most vibrant natural wonders. This sprawling, vivaciously lush tropical rainforest is home to thousands of unique Aussie animals, some of which can only be found in this ancient (older-than-the-Amazon ancient) natural ecosystem.

Crocodile in the Daintree

Given its massive, wondrous expanse and myriad of awesome experiences to partake in, we suggest spending at least a couple of days in the Daintree Rainforest. This will allow you to experience everything from Indigenous heritage walks, the sublime Cape Tribulation and the riveting croc-spotting cruise!

But, if you want to take your time to properly explore this pristine jungle, be sure to spend upwards of a week meandering around its gorgeous greenery and taking in all the wonderful experiences we will list below…

Indigenous heritage walk

The Kuku Yalanji people are the traditional owners of the Daintree and, thankfully, they have just had it returned to them in a landmark settlement. They have a special connection to the forest, its animals and its flora, and provide enthralling wilderness tours for people to experience their way of life in this most enchanting part of the world.

You will learn about different bush tucker, medicines and culture whilst immersing yourself in the beauty of their traditional land – it’s the perfect way to start your Daintree adventure!

Croc-spotting tours

The Daintree Rainforest is home to history’s most unkillable beast: the saltwater crocodile. Yes, this Jurassic predator stalks the waterways, hunting for fresh food to (quite easily) sink its massive teeth into!

Luckily for us tourists, we can see the legendary salty from the Daintree Rainforest croc-spotting cruises. You will be taken by a knowledgeable biologist aboard a boat that will provide prime viewing opportunities of this magnificent creature as well as a host of other reptiles, birds and mammals, all of which will be pointed out by your guide along the way…

Cape Tribulation

Cape Tribulation is one of the world’s most beautiful beaches – there, we said it, and we have little intention of taking it back! And, when you emerge from the jungle onto this gorgeous stretch of sunny Queensland coast you will probably feel much the same as we do!

Take your time to meander around the windswept shoreline before cooling off in the magical turquoise waters – it’s all part of the fun of experiencing the most incredible Daintree Rainforest!
