Cow Bay Beach is truly a relaxing spot to come to after a long day’s journey exploring the Daintree Rainforest.
Cow Bay Beach is a beautiful and quiet tropical beach within the Daintree. The beach has soft sand with views overlooking the gorgeous blue water and the dazzling lush trees against the sand. It isn’t often you can find a beach that is as beautiful and secluded as Cow Bay Beach.
Go for a walk
A walk along the beach can sound so simple, and it is. But walking along the soft sand of Cow Bay Beach with views of the crystal blue waters and the lush ancient Daintree Rainforest.
Have a picnic
Right by the beach there are picnic tables. Bring along all your favourite picnic foods and enjoy an afternoon here or in the evening to watch the sunset.
Take photos and swing on Cow Bay Swing
One of the most Instagrammable spots in the area is the famous Cow Bay Swing. The swing hangs down from one of the palm trees that you can swing on above the soft sand. Some of the best times to come here for photos are at sunrise or sunset. But even on a clear blue sky day, you’ll get some incredible photos.
Catch a fish
Fishing is a popular activity to do on Cow Bay Beach. The best time to go fishing is around the twilight periods, while the best spot to go fishing is off the rocks when it’s high tide.
Things to do in Cow Bay
Cow Bay is a gorgeous coastal town that sits between the Daintree River and Cape Tribulation. The town has a few different things you can do, with many more activities and places to visit a short drive away.
• Daintree Discovery Centre
The Daintree Discovery Centre is an amazing way to explore parts of the ancient rainforest. The centre provides opportunities to see the Daintree from climbing the 23-metre Canopy Tower to following paths through the rainforest.
• Jindalba Boardwalk
The Jindalba Boardwalk is a popular 45-minute track through the lowlands of the Daintree Rainforest and Mount Alexandra. The easy boardwalk has you strolling through the rainforest with chances to spot a Bennett’s tree kangaroo or a buff-breasted paradise kingfisher.
• Stay
It’s worth staying here for a couple of nights while you explore more of the Daintree Rainforest. Cow Bay provides all kinds of accommodation from motel rooms to bungalows and Safari tents.
Some top places to stay include Daintree Crocodylus, The Epiphyte B&B, and Wompoo Eco Retreat.
Cow Bay Beach is over an hour’s drive from Port Douglas, or about half an hour’s drive from Cape Tribulation.
