A locally-loved spot for a refreshing dip on a hot day in the Daintree
And, it’s famous…for its distinct lack of crocs!
There aren’t too many places you can swim in the Daintree. The big population of crocs and stingers probably has something to do with this.

But nestled among various spots in the rainforest are some well-loved swimming holes, perfect for washing away the humidity.
Wander along the Myall Creek to get to this tropical pocket of paradise. Perfect for dipping into on a hot, humid day, this swimming hole is the perfect temperature for a great, refreshing dip.
Mason’s Swimming Hole is a patch of privately owned land. There is a cafe on site, which sits in front of the swimming hole area. It’s well signposted, so you’ll be able to see where you can head into the water!
Simply pop $1 into the honesty donation box, and take yourself to the back of the swimming hole, where you’ll be able to dip into the refreshing waters and float along!
Mason’s Cafe
The only crocodiles you’ll find at Mason’s Swimming Hole are in between two pieces of bread, in the cafe’s signature croc burgers.
This is one of the best cafes in the Daintree if you want to try some of the Daintree’s most iconic foods! Cooking up some of the most exotic menu items in Australia, this cafe is one to remember. With a menu full of crocs, emus, and camels, Mason’s Cafe prides itself on its wide range of meats on the menu. Veggie options are also available!
And they don’t skip out on sweet treats either, stocking a whole range of tasty, local ice creams infused with the best rainforest fruits.
No crocs in here! Except for the burgers…

After you’ve been for a dip, check out the range of exotic foods on the menu at Mason’s Cafe.
