The Daintree Rainforest is one of Australia’s natural gems, a 1,200 square kilometre wonderland of dense tropical rainforest and endless biodiversity.

Daintree River Cruise, Queensland

At around 180 million years old, the Daintree is part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, the world’s oldest continually surviving tropical rainforest.

The forest is home to wildlife not seen elsewhere, including the cheeky (sometimes rowdy) Southern cassowary, the super cute Tiger quoll and the tiny musky rat-kangaroo, among thousands of others!

A trip to the Daintree is on any nature lover’s to-see list, so how much is a tour of the rainforest? Well, that all depends on what exactly it is you want to see and do in this mystical part of the world.

Here are a few tours to help you decide and give you an idea of the cost.

  • 1 day Cape Tribulation & Daintree Tour with Mossman Gorge

    Adults: $165
    Kids: $149 (2 – 12 years)

This action-packed tour is one of Tropical Queensland’s most popular tours, and it’s easy to see why, as visitors are treated to all the highlights of the forest and this most gorgeous tropical beach all in one fun-filled day. You will start the day exploring the Daintree itself, taking in the lush surrounds and fascinating wildlife before hopping aboard an eco cruise for a bit of croc-spotting (don’t worry – you’re safe on the boat!).

You will then head over to spend some time chilling out on Cape Tribulation before heading to explore Mossman Gorge, an incredible gorge that is central to local Indigenous history.

  • Cape Tribulation & Daintree overnight tour

    Adults: $204
    Kids: $204

This wonderful tour allows you that extra time to explore the beauty of this natural wonderland. You will go on guided tours through the forest, learning about the unique plant and wildlife that is unique to the region. You will then hop aboard the Crocodile Spotting River Cruise before heading deeper into the forest.

After, you will head over to the breathtaking Cape Tribulation and your accommodation for the night. In the morning, you will have the opportunity to go jungle surfing or horse riding on the beach before heading over to Alexandra Range for incredible views across the stunning expanse of the Daintree Rainforest, Coastal Hinterland and Daintree River. You will then explore the beautiful Mossman Gorge before heading back to Cairns – it’s truly the perfect way to experience the Daintree in all its natural glory!
