1 Day Cape Tribulation and Rainforest Tour with Port Douglas Itinerary
For a slice of both beach and rainforest action, join us on this one-day tour of Cape Tribulation, where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. Throughout the day, we’ll make sure you visit all the best spots, including picturesque swimming holes, pristine beaches, and ancient rainforests.
We’ll start the day with a photo stop at Rex Lookout to check out the amazing views of the ocean and Cape Tribulation. We continue the trip to Port Douglas, where we’ll go for a walk, a refreshing dip and morning tea at the 4-mile long beach. Afterwards, we’ll take you to see some of Cape Tribulation’s oldest residents – the saltwater crocodile. We’ll jump on board a wildlife spotting boat to cruise down the Daintree River and learn about their unique habitat and history, seeing them up close in person. Sometimes we do this activity in the afternoon depending on the tide – we want it to be low so that the crocs are visible on the riverbanks!
Afterwards, we’ll land on the other side of the Daintree River and wander through some of the oldest rainforests in the world. Along the way, you might spot a cassowary or two, as well as other fascinating native species. Be in awe of the beauty and diversity of the Daintree, one of the most complex ecosystems on Earth. We head up to Alexandra Lookout for some of the best views in the area.
Lunch is at PKs Jungle Village, where you can feast in the gorgeous surrounds of the jungle. Having relaxed and refuelled, we venture deeper into the rainforest for a guided bushwalk to a secluded location, ready for a swim in a freshwater creek. Have fun on the slide or rope swing as you splash around our own private waterhole! Your guide will have plenty of secrets to share about the biology and history of the area as you explore deep into the dense rainforest.
To finish the day, we’ll meander back to Cairns, keeping our eyes peeled for Cassowaries. On the way back we make a couple of stops to marvel at the view from incredible lookout points, catching the last glimpse of Cape Tribulation.
